The Jones Beach Nature Center will offer the following programs during winter 2019. Advanced reservations are required beginning on the dates indicated in the parenthesis. To register, please call (516) 780-3295. There will be a fee of $4.00 per person and children under 3 are free. The parking fee must be paid during fee collection season.
Winter Seal Walks
Our winter visitors are here! Join us for a short talk about seals and then bundle up as we walk along the shoreline to see these amazing mammals.

Scrap the Winter Blues Away: (Children’s Program)

Bayberry Candles: (Family Program)

We will discuss the origins of the bayberry candles and each family will have the opportunity to make their own decorative candle to take home. Reservations Are Required: (516) 780 – 3295.
Geology Rocks: (Children’s Program)

There are rocks that glow in the dark, rocks that float, and rocks that conduct electricity, oh my! Enjoy rock and mineral experiments and explore the intriguing world of geology! Reservations Are Required: (516) 780 – 3295.
Lights, Color, Refraction! (Children’s Program)
Saturday March 16 10:30 am – 12:00 noon
Through hands-on activities, we will explore the many ways that light bounces, bends, and reflects. We’ll discover how white light splits apart, revealing al the colors of the rainbow. Reservations Are Required: (516) 780 – 3295.
Marine Mammals Festival
Saturday, February 23rd 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
FREE EVENT!
Join us for a fun filled day all about marine mammals! Learn about these unique animals – big and small, they are similar to us! Move from station to station and participate in exciting activities, or join a seal walk and maybe spot one in person! Wonder though our kelp forest and discover its many secrets. It will be a whale of a time! Please arrive any time during this special event.

Piping Plover Volunteer Day

Spring is almost here! Join us to help protect the endangered piping plover before they arrive for the breeding season! Help us put string on fence posts to give these special birds a protected place to nest. They will thank you!
