Hicksville NJHS Promoting Literacy With Generosity

Once again, the Hicksville Middle School National Junior Honor Society is promoting reading through its charitable efforts. The NJHS recently organized a book drive to benefit the Book Fairies, a Freeport-based nonprofit organization that collects books for all age groups to distribute to students, families and individuals in need throughout the tristate area.

This year, Hicksville Middle School collected 18 boxes of gently used books for donation. NJHS students, along with their adviser Sara Smith, recently sorted and boxed these books for delivery to the Book Fairies.

“Book Fairies is a very worthwhile organization, and I am grateful to the entire middle school community for reaching into their home libraries and sending in books to share with those who may not be in a position to purchase books of their own,” said Hicksville Middle School Principal Mara Jorisch. “I commend Ms. Smith and the NJHS for organizing this drive, year after year, and spreading the joy of reading beyond Hicksville.”
