Hempstead Town Accepting Entries for Seaside Car Show at Town Park Point Lookout

The Town of Hempstead is calling on vintage car collectors to register for Hempstead Town’s Seaside Spectacular Collectors Car Show on Saturday, September 14th at Town Park Point Lookout. The beachside event, sponsored by Merrick Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler and Ram of Wantagh and Merrick Collision and Towing is Long Island’s largest collector’s car show, featuring several hundred cars, awards, live music and free giveaways for participants.

The show, open to cars 1994 and older, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. (collector car check-in from 10 a.m. to noon). There is a $10 entry fee for each participating car, but no charge for spectators. In addition to more than 400 classic car entries on display across more than a dozen categories, this year’s show will feature a special display by HRE Motorcars of Freeport, The Jeep Store and Big Power Racing. Music will be provided by Hokis Pokis and WHLI will be on hand to provide entertainment throughout the day.

“We are looking forward to another wonderful selection of classic cars to be displayed seaside at Town Par Point Lookout.  Please send in your entry form which can be found on www.hempsteadNY.gov to reserve your space at Long Island’s premier car show,” shared Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen.

Each year, thousands of spectators enjoy the hundreds of vintage cars (1994 and older) entered into the car show. Categories include the Classics, Corvettes, Cobras, Mustangs, T-birds, American and foreign favorites and the best of popular time periods. Car show participants judge the show, and first, second and third-place award plaques will be presented to car owners in 15 different categories.

The first 400 cars to register will receive a free dashboard plaque. Car owners can pre-register up until September 5th. Although space is limited, there is day-of-the-event registration, between 10 a.m. and noon. There is no charge for spectators, and parking is free. Snacks, beverages and ice cream will be available for purchase during the event. In the event of inclement weather, the show will be cancelled.

Car Show applications can be obtained by visiting the Town’s website at www.hempsteadny.gov or by calling the Office of Communications at (516) 812-3303.

“We are looking forward to an amazing display of cars, and encourage participants to register in advance to avoid the rush on the day of the show,” Gillen concluded.
