English as a new language learners at Hicksville Middle School recently enjoyed an in-school field trip in partnership with the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington.
ENL students enjoyed the museum’s presentation on Latino artists from around the world, then celebrated their individuality and diversity by creating their own stylized self-portraits. This included incorporating unique patterns into their portraits.
Students worked under the direction of museum staff and had a wonderful time channeling their own creativity while following the technique of some of the greatest artists in the world.
