Feeling the Fury

By: John McGowan

The wave broke hard on my meager attempt
To avoid its clash and left me spent
Pulling myself together for another swell
This time I dodged it underneath I sped
Feeling the fury above my head
I had tied the score with nature’s onslaught
But now I looked out and felt I’d be caught
Would I make another successful ascent?
Or fall to its fury despite my intent?
Let’s leave it at that for another day
Next time my timing will come minus delay.
