Envirothon Honorees

A team of five Sachem High School North student scientists who captured a first-place finish at the 20th annual Long Island Regional Envirothon competition this April were honored for their achievement at the meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature on June 19.

The winning team, composed of Chris Eagler, Miranda Garcia-Cassani, Emily Gelardi, Emily Hudak and Molly Kearns, confidently navigated the five subject areas of this year’s competition, bringing home the win. In addition, Anika Banerjee, Kaya Manolt, Alena Thotam, Caitlin Tucker and Madison Tutone, a second team from Sachem High School North, finished in third place.

The first-place team advanced to the state competition, where it placed seventh out of 58 teams from across New York State.
