Copiague School District’s fifth-graders enrolled in the summer program at Great Neck Road Elementary School have been learning about the scientific method, matter and Newton’s Laws of Motion.
Working with a partner, students brainstormed and built a secure house for an egg to be dropped from a second-story window. They made observations and predictions about what the possible outcomes. After dropping their eggs, the students discussed why some of the eggs cracked and others did not. Ten of the 12 eggs were safe and intact after their high impact fall.
