A museum exhibit was set up in the Belmont Elementary School library to display a variety of Chinese artifacts in honor of the Chinese New Year. Behind the display table stood a wall of student artwork that highlighted this Chinese New Year as the Year of the Pig.
In celebration of the holiday, third-grade students were brought to the library to witness these artifacts firsthand and learn about the history of Chinese New Year. This also supports the cultural studies lesson for third-graders.
The event completed with students watching a video of the colossal firework display that takes place in China in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
