Massapequa School District’s Summer Recreation Program celebrated Carnival Day on Aug. 3, an annual event that both campers and counselors enjoy.
Carnival Day was held at each of the program’s six locations. Activities included water slides, bounce houses, potato sack races, arts and crafts, limbo, face painting and more. High school and college-age counselors came up with carnival games such as cup-stacking contests and ring toss for the children, who could win prizes.
“The children love it,” said Nicole Fatscher, director of Unqua Elementary School’s camp. “This is their favorite day of the year.”
The district’s five-week Summer Recreation Program is open to students entering kindergarten through fifth grade.
