A Moment Lasts Forever

By: John McGowan

Walking up the stoop to my door

I was struck by something deep to the core

Yes, I had walked up a stoop some years before

But this time I went back like waves to the shore

I cherish these moments that transport me back

To a time when wisdom was something I lacked

Now that I have it, I see the present unchanged

Only myself moving forward with unlimited range

Future, past and present are really one

Let me linger in the latter so the former I won’t shun
