Nine years ago, one student in the Port Jefferson School District earned the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. This year, 60 students were recognized for their efforts and active volunteer service of between 50 and 100 hours in the community.
Coordinated by Port Jefferson resident Jackie Hull, each student was presented with a certificate at a ceremony attended by members of the board of education, school community and families for their commitment to civic participation throughout the year.
